SEIT Librarian in the School to help PGRs!

Hi, my name is Cathy Burton. I am the SEIT Outreach Librarian. I will be in residence every Thursday 12.00-13.00 in the School.  I will be in B15 R120. To date  PGR students have heard all about finding eJournals and making life easier with Endnote. If you are a PGR and want to get an advantage with research techniques then come along! This week I will spend the first ten minutes running through Endnote and then answer questions from the floor. Don’t forget to complete the ELISE tutorial. A pass mark of 80% in the ELISE quiz is mandatory for all new undergraduate students at UNSW Canberra. ELISE must be complete by the end of  5 April 2012 which is the end of week 5.

New platform for Proquest databases

The all-new ProQuest platform transforms  their highly-regarded platforms into one consolidated search experience. ProQuest, Illumina, and selected Chadwyck-Healey products are available on the new platform, with all ProQuest products accessible via the new platform over time. Proquest will be unavailable Australia Eastern Standard Time: Sunday, October 23, 2011, at 13:00 for twelve (12) hours. The following e-resources will be affected.

• New and Legacy ProQuest platform products, ProQuest Historical Newspapers (traditional and graphical K12 interface), American Periodicals Series
• Chadwyck-Healey products with domain names ending with chadwyck.com
• Illumina products such as Technology Research Database, Illustrata: Natural Sciences, and Sociological Abstracts
• Genealogy and local history products including African American Heritage, Ancestry Library Edition, HeritageQuest Online, Historic Map Works Library Edition, ProQuest Obituaries and Digital Sanborn Maps
